Mixed feelings for coached rider Matt Stretton at the Junior National 10m TT Championship this weekend, as he took 12th place despite a mechanical issue. Matt has shown true grit and determination in the days leading up to the event as a crash disrupted his preparation for this key event in his season.
After the impact of hitting a pot hole moved the transmission to the little chain ring, Matt was unable to reselect the big ring due to his injured wrist meaning that he had to finish the final quarter of the race in the small chain ring. Despite this, Matt posted a time of 20:57 to take 12th place and post his third fastest 10 ever.
The progression Matt has made this season has been impressive and we know that this has fired him up for a winter of hard work in preparation for the 2019 season. Matt’s willingness to learn, positive attitude and hard work ethic mean that working with this young rider is job satisfaction for his coaching team.
